about me

My name is Eric Meyer, and my passion for design and technology has been a part of me since I was a kid. It started with teaching myself how to use iMovie to edit movies I made with my friends. This spark grew into a desire to learn the Adobe Suite and refine my skills. Throughout junior high and high school, I took communication technology classes, and I quickly realized this was my true passion. There has never been a time in my life when I wasn’t creating something.I pursued this love for technology at the University of Lethbridge, where I earned my Fine Arts Bachelor’s degree in New Media. During my time there, I expanded my knowledge and explored a wide range of programs and tools. I learned coding with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and explored 3D modelling with Blender and 3DS Max. I also delved into web design using Figma and even created a video game using Arduino and the Processing program on an old Samsung tablet.Creating has always been at the center of my life. Today, I work at Fresh Focus Media, where I lead projects, gather insights from clients, and create websites, logos, posters, brochures, and any other design materials needed.
that’s me in the Colloseum!!
ai usage
I use a plethora of artificial intelligence tools to help improve my workflow. While I do not directly generate images or video and use them in any of my designs, I have found many ways where different AI tools significantly improved my design workflow.
Chat GPT
One of the most useful ways I use ChatGPT is for help with the design programs I work in. Whenever I'm unsure what steps to take next, I upload a screenshot of my desktop and ask ChatGPT for guidance. Instead of digging through outdated Adobe forums, ChatGPT looks at my project in progress and acts like a professional design tutor, helping me work through the issue. It's significantly reduced the time I spend searching for answers and lets me focus more on actually designing.
Claude AI
After scouring Pinterest, Are.na and Mobbin, I sometimes look for inspiration in less traditional places. Claude AI has become a useful tool in my kit when I’m feeling creatively burnt out or stuck. I’ll ask it for design ideas, whether it's unique colour combinations, interaction concepts or layout suggestions. It often gives me that small spark I was missing to push a design forward.
